About Us l

New Chicago Church of God in Christ is a congregation of saints that believe in upholding God's word as the final authority to all things. We are located at 1137 Louisville Avenue in the heart of North Memphis. Elder Carlos Rodgers is our senior pastor, born April 19, 1977 to Bishop Charles & Gloria Rodgers. He always knew that there was a call of God on his life. At the age of four in Tennessee  Central Jurisdiction's Inaugural Convocation Bishop J.O Patterson Sr. called him to the pulpit, prophesied & prayed for him and stated that he would be an anointed preacher & leader.  New Chicago is a proud member of the International Church of God In Christ where Bishop Charles E. Blake is the Chief Apostle. The local church was under the auspice of Pastor E.E. Dickerson for over 30 years, who set the standard to win souls to Christ. We believe in one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism and the oneness of God finding expression in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Holy Bible is the Word of God by which we stand. The power of the Holy Ghost is our salvation and our path to heaven’s gates.

ABOUT THE PASTOR

Born April 19, 1977 to Bishop Charles & Gloria Rodgers. Pastor Rodgers always knew that there was a call of God on his life. At the age of four in Central Jurisdiction's Inaugural Convocation Bishop J.O Patterson Sr. Called him to the pulpit, prophesied & prayed for him. That he would be a gospel preacher.

Raleigh Egypt High School (1995) Music scholarship to Univ. of Calif at Berkeley

Jett Barber College (1996), Degree as a Master Barber

Playing percussion instruments & becoming a musician at 8 years old (1985) eventually becoming an accomplished musician for Central Jurisdiction, Fifth Jurisdiction, & the National Music Department of the COGIC, under the late Dr. Maddie Moss-Clark

Started C.J.'s Barber and Beauty Salon (1996) at the age of 19,

Accepted Christ & received the Baptism in the Holy Ghost (1998)

Started Tangles Beauty and Barber Salon (2007)

Attended  New Dimensions Bible college (1997-2000), mastering Old Testament  survey, New Testament  survey, & Spiritual counseling

Started preaching & began extensive traveling across the country proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ (April 18, 1998) also became a fourth generation COGIC preacher (on both sides) to preach the gospel

Ordained at New Dimensions (2006), Bishop Charles Rodgers officiated the service &  the late Dr. E. E Dickerson helped with the preparation & delivered the message

Becoming minister of music (1999) New dimensions, First Baptist Church Chelsea (2005), Word Of Light (2010)

Ministerial License received in (2002) with Bishop Charles Rodgers officiating

Honorary Bachelor's degree from the E.E. Dickerson Bible institute (2002)

Married To the former Wendy Greene(September 10, 2005),

Youth Pastor (2008-2011) As an ex drug addict, drug dealer, gang affiliate, & alcoholic it is his passion to make sure that young people all over the country, don't make the same mistakes that he made.

Appointed by The Headquarter's Jurisdictional Bishop, Bishop David A. Hall Sr. To the New Chicago COGIC (The church that the late Dr. E. E. Dickerson, my Grandfather Pastored for 50 years) (June 10, 2012)

New Chicago COGIC total renovation (July 20, 2012)

The New Chicago COGIC quickly moved from 1 member to over 100 in his first year Pastoring. Currently working toward a Bachelor's degree in business management & accounting.

I live by the words of his late grandfather Bishop E. W Rodgers Sr., live everyday as if it were your last. Being a forth generation COGIC Pastor (on both sides) it is his driving force to be the husband, father, mentor, life coach & humanitarian that God needs for this time & season. His motto for ministry is.... NOTHING can replace the anointing!!!!
